How do we calculate the rankings?

To rank users, we examine boulder problems and routes separately, because it's hard to devise an apples to apples comparison. So with respect to each (boulder problems and routes) we look at the users top 10 sends of distinct routes that are currently up (i.e. sending the same 5.11a 10 times only counts once towards your ranking score. We assign quality points to the grade based on the scale below, and then we take the sum value to get the point ranking for that particular user. Compare that point ranking to all the other users and you get your rank for either bouldering or routes.

Onsighting a route or boulder problem gets you an extra point allocation that is equal to half of the difference between the point value for that route/problem grade and the next highest. So if you onsighted a 5.10a, and the point value 1900, then an onsight would be valued at 1900 + [(1925 - 1900)/ 2] = 1912.5

For example, say you've sent a 5.11c, a 5.11d, and 8 other 5.11as. We would take the quality points associated with those grades as follows...

[2050 quality points (5.11c) + 2075 quality points (5.11d) + (2000 (5.11a) * 8) (... your other 8 5.11a routes ...)] =

20,125 ranking score

If you sent less than 10 routes in each category (bouldering and routes), then your ranking will be lower than it should be, until you log those top 10!
